“The Orkney imagination is haunted by time”

- The words of the Orcadian poet George Mackay Brown

For it is Orkney with its immense sense of space, ethereal light, and the compelling spiritual dimension that links the past with the present, that are such an inspiration for my work.

I have had several Exhibitions based on Orkney, and themes continue to explore subtle summer colours, dramatic standing stones, and shifting light on the sea. I also wanted to convey the immense metaphysical nature of Orkney.

Exhibition Pieces- Orkney

Central is “Maes Howe”, a Neolithic tomb, a powerful enigmatic place, like a womb or a seed, symbolising, death, birth, regeneration. A liminal space.

Orkney is a magical, timeless  place evoking strong emotions.
